Management Team
Phil Lake, President
Phil Lake has been in the Life Safety / Security, and Controls industries for 30 years. In his most recent position, Phil has taken the Fire Safety Division of Siemens Building Technologies from a debilitating loss in 2001 to a substantial and sustainable profit. This role included manufacturing & product development, 42 field offices providing systems installation and service. Prior to Siemens, Phil has turned around and grown businesses at Chubb Security Canada and Chubb, USA. Honeywell Canada Limited allowed Phil to move into operational management. His career spanned thirteen years at Honeywell starting as Controller of a $60 million Division and moving through ever increasing operational management positions. Phil earned a Certified General Accountant Degree (CPA equivalent), in Toronto and studied Industrial Marketing in the Executive Programs of the University of Toronto.
Martin Krohn, Vice President South Texas
Martin Krohn has 23 years experience in the Fire Detection and Alarm Industry. He has held and been active in every position in the fire and security alarm industry; including field sales, installation, and service of alarm systems. Martin has previously owned his own company in partnership with Trey West for seven years and held positions of Sales Manager for Chubb Security; General Manager, District Manager, and Regional Director for Siemens Building Technologies. Martin is trained as a Six Sigma Process Improvement Black Belt and has run many process improvement initiatives for Siemens Building Technologies. Martin holds a BS degree in Industrial Technology from Texas A&M University.
H.B. ‘Trey’ West, Vice President North Texas
Trey West has extensive experience as a senior manager and entrepreneur in the Electronic Building Systems industry. Trey most recently was the VP Operations for Siemens Security Systems, where he led the effort to build Siemens' World Class Monitoring Center in the DFW area. He has held the position of Regional Director for Siemens Fire Safety's Southern Region, as well as a General Manager for Chubb Security's North Texas operation. Trey, partnering with Martin Krohn, has previous entrepreneurial experience with Makrowest, Inc. a start-up fire and security business; which sold to Chubb Security in 1989. Trey holds an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Texas.
Chris Hugman, P.E. Vice President Central Texas
Chris Hugman brings over 20 years of experience as a corporate executive in both the telecommunications and the security industries. In 2003, Hugman founded the security integration company Safe Sight in Austin TX focusing on the convergence of traditional security technology with the next generation network based systems. Hugman grew Safe Sight into a multi-million dollar company with a prestigious customer list in both the private and public sectors. In April 2009, Safe Sight merged with Knight Security Systems to take advantage of the natural synergies between the two companies.
Hugman has previously served in executive positions with Security Broadband, ConnectSouth, WorldCom, Brooks Fiber Communications, and SBC/AT&T. Additionally, Chris has been among the founding leadership of venture backed start-up companies, and has architected and deployed $100’s of millions in technology infrastructure to serve thousands of clients. Chris holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and is a licensed Professional Engineer.
